Tree of Life

This painting was commissioned by a private client for their West London home. After seeing the colourful space for which the painting was to form a centrepiece I decided to take my colour palette from the room. A custom made frisbee shaped frame was used to create a 3 dimensional element for a circular painting to break the straight lines of the chimney breast and form a portal to a fantasy world. I worked closely with the client on the content – tree, trumpet flowers, birds and butterflies and came up with the concept that the tree could be a female, mother nature, the roots seen beneath the daisies form her lungs as she breathes life into the world. The client was doubtful that they wanted a human face to be prominent in the painting, but when they saw how subtle and understated this element was it got a big thumbs up.
