Inverted Carp Pond

Nagual Creations was commissioned by a private client to create a unique permanent installation for their home in Portobello road.

The work had to be innovative and original and sit comfortably alongside their extensive street art collection. It had to be unimposing and delicate, in that it would be central to the living space covering the entire ceiling, yet be a prominent and dazzling feature when activated for nighttime soirees.

Nagual Creations designed an ‘inverted carp pond’ to float just below the ceiling from fine aluminium mesh. During the daylight the transparent and ghostly carp exhibited different subtle hues of colour which changed depending on the viewers position and the qualities of ambient light. By night, when illuminated whith fluorescent light the fish appeared to solidify into a dazzling whirlpool of colour.
